ABYC (American Boat and Yacht Council) Standards
The ABYC (American Boat and Yacht Council) is a not-for-profit membership supported organization that has been developing, writing and updating safety standards for boat building and repair in the United States for nearly 50 years. The ABYC formulates standards that are much like the codes used in building construction although they are not mandatory. These standards or recommended practices are published in the book "Standards & Technical Information Reports for Small Craft" which is updated on a yearly basis. This publication provides the marine surveyor with a standard that is used to evaluate the vessel under marine survey.
